A Look at Fire Truck Dimensions
Fire truck specifications in the United States can vary from state to state. But most US fire trucks have a length of at least 24 feet. Heights are restricted to 13.6 feet. But few of them rarely pass 12 feet. In terms of width, the average for these vehicles is seven to eight feet.
Specifications are not limited to a truck’s physical dimensions; it is extended to the service equipment. All fire trucks must have these components: a water tank, fire hose pump and ground ladders. Fire pumps are required to have 1000 gpm (3,790 L/min) minimum capacity. The vehicle’s ladder should have a waterway fused with it.
The capacity has to be 300 gallons at least. Storage capacity must be forty cubic feet at least. For the hose storage, it must be 30 cubic feet at the minimum. This figure is for a standard 2.5 inch (65 mm) fire hose. For larger hoses, more capacity is needed.
